Power Up Your Shower

By |September 6th, 2013|

Taking a cooler or cold shower has been shown to increase healthy immune function! Scientific studies show those who regularly immerse themselves in cold water benefit from increased circulation, higher immunity (less colds and flu!) and increased feelings of wellness. In fact, cold water immersion is an actual remedy used to treat and facilitate progress in patients suffering depression and anxiety.

Thirsty Thursday – Lime Water Challenge

By |August 22nd, 2013|

Here's my fast remedy to morning energy, even for those of who claim you are not a "morning person" and may begin each morning rolling out of bed, falling over your feet.

Do daily Affirmations really work?

By |August 15th, 2013|

Did you know our brains are wired to think around 60,000-70,000 thoughts per day.. AND approximately 70 percent of those thoughts are naturally negative?

Just doing a little speedy math, that is a minimum of around 42,000 negative thoughts per day!

The good news is, Deepak Chopra (world’s leading biomedical scientist on the mind) believes we can change our thought processes by re-wiring our neural brain networks (nerve patterns that create our thoughts) through lingual programming. Aka: Affirming something positive out loud!

We can think these positive thoughts, however it is best [...]

Cacao on the brain?

By |July 24th, 2013|

This week I had a mad craving for chocolate!

Strange, as I never really liked chocolate until I began enjoying raw cocoa shakes.

I started off with once a fortnight, then once a week and pretty soon I wanted it all the time. The more I had, the more I wanted.

This made me wonder about the raw food revolution, the high profits of raw cocoa manufacturers, the open tickets to cacao that fitness trainers and nutritionists were giving their clients and how over-consumption of this tasty little product may be affecting [...]

REAL advice on which juicer is best for you !

REAL advice on which juicer is best for YOU !

I have many people asking for my opinion on the best juicer to buy and in the last few years, I have spent a great deal of time talking to people in the industry, trying juicers first hand and researching their mechanical parts to understand their structure and how they work.

What have I come up with?

Well, unfortunately, there is no one juicer that suits everyone. Sorry!

There are just too many different factors involved, from produce types to cleaning, price, primary use, size and space!

As I spent more time in the juicing maze, I found a number [...]

When the couch calls…

By |July 9th, 2013|

Today we went into St Vincent’s bustling town Kingstown. It was the official day of Carnival 2013 and we were excited to get road side to see all the action. The local people were wearing bright creative costumes and smiles poured through the grand stand as each section moved onto the main stage for judging. An incredible sight!

The only trouble was.. my legs were tired, I felt exhausted, thought about the couch and began to yawn! What was wrong with me?

Of course as a fitness and health coach, I [...]

Thirsty Thursday !

By |July 5th, 2013|

Oooh so excited to share this Thirsty Thursday recipe with you. It’s so simple I had to double take and ask myself if I am really going to post this!? The truth is, I nearly fell over this morning when I drank my mango passion and I decided it was time I blogged about it.

3 ripe mangoes
2 ripe passionfruit
1/2 cup filtered water

Peel mangoes and remove flesh from seeds. Add mango chunks to blender. Cut passionfruit in half and scoop pulp into blender.

Pour in 1/2 cup of filtered water [...]

Absolicious Apple Pie

By |July 4th, 2013|

After 3 days of juicing greens and a long week working on projects, I’m ready to treat myself to a massage, some relaxation and incredible food. We are planning some mysterious mexican dishes for our Sunday meal and I just can’t think of a better dessert than good old fashioned Apple Pie!
But .. why do our stomachs turn, our fear levels rise and our hearts sink when we hear these two words. Is it because we are desperately desiring just a tiny taste of the sweet combination of fruit [...]

True Love Smoothie

By |June 14th, 2013|

It’s THIRSTY THURSDAY and I already know what the favourite will be on the menu today.
As I sit here on a small island in the Caribbean (you would think I’m about to say “looking out over the turquoise sea and coconut trees”), I’m actually snug as a bug  indoors as it pours with rain outside (you guessed it, hurricane season started early this year!). With the downpour and cool breeze, I have a craving for something that’s going to give my soul a punch of flavour and the [...]
